How To Fold A Fitted Sheet

Posted by Bamboo Village on 27th Mar 2015

Here’s a question for you…have you ever tried to fold a fitted sheet with success? You begin with good intentions (“I can do this!), but it ends up as some sort of balled-up rag and rather tragic looking, and before anyone can see it atop your beautiful ironing pile, you quickly bundle it into the cupboard until it is needed. Sound familiar?

We’ve all been there, you can’t shy away from it! They really weren’t made to be an easy job, were they? We can all go on pretending we’ll eventually crack the fitted-sheet code, or we can follow the wonderful domestic-goddess advice that we found online. Are you ready to have neatly folded sheets? What a novelty! Check out the video below, and we’ve also summarised what we have learnt too.

The main steps to folding fitted sheets:

1) To begin with, hold the sheet lengthways by both corners with the right side towards your body.

2) Get corner number one, and place it over corner number two.

3) Slide down the edge, pick up corner three and tuck it on. Repeat for corner four.

4) Turn to the other side where the straighter edges will remain hanging. Straighten them, and walk to a table or flat space.

5) Fold and fluff both sides of the sheet.

6) Fold it in to thirds down to the middle, and then fold it into thirds again until you have a neat finished sheet pile (in theory; it may take a few practices).

And there we have it! We'd love to know how your fitted sheet folding goes; do let us know! Stay tuned for more blog posts on handy tips for around the home.
