How To Ensure Your Bamboo Towels Stay Absorbent And Super Fluffy

If you love our Bamboo towels as much as we do, you’ll appreciate their wonderful qualities; there really is nothing better than a bamboo towel after a bath or shower! They are super absorbent (four times more so than cotton), and with one soft pat of the towel, you’re dry really quickly. They’re also incredibly soft due to being made from 100% bamboo pile on cotton backing, which makes them a really delightful treat and very durable. If you want to ensure that they stay absorbent and super fluffy, follow these tips.

Wash in Hot Water – When you first get your bamboo towels, wash them in hot water and on their own; it removes anything left behind from the manufacturing process and gets them ready to be used. You can also add a cup of plain white vinegar to the wash water, which will help get them rid of anything left over too. Our bamboo towels are Oeko-tex 100 certified, which means that they are free from harmful chemicals, but washing before first use is recommended for all towels and linen.

Ban Fabric Softener – When washing your bamboo towels for the first time, don’t use any fabric softeners; they coat the surface of fabric with chemicals that can reduce the fabrics feel and their absorbency too. This is a very important point to follow; a common reason for towels losing their absorbency is because of fabric softener ingredients. Bamboo towels are soft enough that you won’t miss the fabric softener.

Dry Them Outside – To get the most out of your bamboo towels, line dry until 90% dry and then pop them in the dryer to finish off. This will fluff up the fibres and help to maintain their absorbency. If you prefer not to use a dryer at all, line drying them is perfectly adequate and you’ll notice your bamboo towels will still be much softer than your cotton towels.

Avoid Ironing & Store Well – One of the delights of bamboo towels are their fluffy fibres, ironing will only flatten these fibres out so we don’t recommend ironing unless you really need to. If you do iron, choose a really low heat setting. When it comes to storage, avoid storing your towels near any heat sources such as a vent, radiator or water heater. Never store towels in the bathroom either; the heat from showers and baths will destroy the fibres over time.

Looked after well, your bamboo towels will stay absorbent and fluffy for years to come!
