When you welcome a new life into the world, it is a very exciting time! If you're green in your choices, you're probably considering how eco-friendly you can be with a new baby, especially when you consider how much waste can be produced. Check out these great 'green' eco-friendly parenting tips that can help you eliminate waste, and make some great sustainable choices for your new little one.

Feeding time - If breastfeeding is an option you can choose, you will be providing your new born with the best nutrients and also save a lot of waste from things like bags and containers, as well as trips to the local shop. If you do decide to bottle feed, avoid plastic, especially ones that contain Bisphenol, PVC, and Melamine which can be dangerous when heated. Look out for stainless steel bottles or shatter resistant glass too.

Homemade - When it is time to start feeding food, choose to make your own instead of buying from the shop. Not only is it a cost saver, you can make only as much as you need which reduces waste, and it can be freezer stored too for convenience. You know what's going in the food, preventing any nasty preservatives and anything else unwanted. When you make the food, choose organic grains, fruits and vegetables. Using a small food processor will save you time.

Sleeping Environment - You want your child to sleep as comfortably and safely as possible, which you can do with our bamboo sheets - luxuriously soft, temperature regulating, breathable and 4 times more absorbent than cotton sheets. They are hypoallergenic, antibacterial, and antimicrobial and have extremely absorbentproperties that are perfect for sensitive skin. Pre-shrunk, they're designed to perfectly fit your baby’s cot after 2 to 3 washes...and they won’t get any smaller! Check out our entire Children's Range here.

Skincare - Babies have very sensitive skin, and it is very important that you read labels to avoid toxic ingredients. Look for skin care products that don't contain any fragrances and dyes, as well as parabens and phthalates. Also look for products that are organic and natural.

Nappies - While disposable nappies are very convenient to use, they are the cause of a lot of waste in landfills. Try to use cloth nappies when convenient; they are eco-friendly, and can simply be washed after use. If you're going to be around the home for a few hours, these are a sensible choice.

Clothing - When choosing what to dress your new born in, consider bamboo fabric. Bamboo fabric is temperature regulating, absorbent and breathable to help keep your baby comfortable. Check out our Bamboo onesies which are designed to fit well over cloth nappies and cut with a little extra length in the body for growing bubs. Super soft and gentle on baby's delicate skin.
